Wrist Physical Therapy Tool Casting
The objective of this project was to create a silicone mold and cast replicas of an object. I chose this physical therapy tool that was hand made from wood. Over the years, this tool has worn down and I often misplace it. I thought this would be the perfect object to cast.

Initial Mold Planning

The Molding and Casting Process
Molding clay to cover the bottom half of the part
Creating the walls and making the first silicone half
The curved first silicone half and beginning the process of the second silicone half
The complete two halves! There was some bleeding into the other half but I cut through it and the two halves easily separated afterwards.
The inside of the two halves.
Preparing for the first pour! I chose to put the molds vertically because the pointy part of the tool is most crucial. I went in with a knife to cut the silicone to create the gate.
The result of the first cast! A finished part that captured all the details of the original part.
And unfortunately, an eyelash that was somehow caught in the silicone mold.
Preparing for the second pour and the final result. There was more flashing this time.
The feature on the second cast still remain very defined.
Unfortunately, there was an air pocket in the gate. I later went back and poured some resin by hand into the hole and let it cure.
The third cast! There is significantly more leakage as the silicone mold is becoming increasingly worn down.
